Men's basketball team swept by Saskatchewan

Box Score The #5 University of Saskatchewan Huskies pulled away in the second quarter to top the Brandon University Bobcats 83-67 Saturday night at the PAC in Saskatoon.

With the win the Huskies improve to 4-0 to remain tied atop the Canada West Prairie division standings. Brandon falls to 0-4 with the loss.
The second quarter was the difference in the game. Saskatchewan pulled away from the Bobcats, outscoring them 19-7 in the frame.

The two squads battled in a tightly contested first quarter. Saskatchewan opened the game on a 16-5 run, but Brandon's defense would tighten up in the final minutes of the period as the fought their way back to within two.

The Huskies turned up their defensive pressure in the second growing their 22-20 first quarter lead to 41-27 at halftime. Brandon managed to score just two points in the first six and a half minutes of the quarter turning the ball over four times in that stretch.

In a physical third quarter the teams combined to commit 22 fouls. The Huskies refused to let Brandon gain any momentum while continuing to build their lead to 66-44 entering the fourth quarter.

Andrew Henry scored a game-high 24 points in the victory. Stephon Lamar, who spent much of the second half on the bench after picking up his fourth personal foul in the third, scored 13 points and added four assists. Ben Baker was a force on the defensive end grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds.

Ilarion Bonhomme led the Bobcats with 15 points and three steals. Emerikc Ravier and Mikee Dosad scored 13 and 12 points respectively. Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak was the top Bobcat rebounder with 10.

Saskatchewan travels to face provincial rivals the Regina Cougars next weekend. The Bobcats will return home to take on the Alberta Golden Bears.
