Golden Bears live up to #2 ranking

Box Score BRANDON – The Alberta Golden Bears lived up to their #2 national ranking Friday night as they picked up a 80-63 win over the host Brandon Bobcats.

Alberta started the game on a 16-3 run. The Bobcats out-scored the Bears in the fourth, but it was too-little too-late as Alberta already had control.

Three Bears finished in double-digit scoring, paced by Youssef Ouahrig and Kenneth Otieno who each contributed 13 points, while freshman forward Mamdou Gueye finished with 12 points.

Brandon was led by fourth-year guard Kenonte Ramsey's game-high 14 points which came on 4-8 shooting from three and 2-2 from the free-throw line.

The win keeps Alberta perfect on the season at 5-0, while Brandon is still searching for their first win at 0-5.

The two teams will meet again Saturday to close out the weekend series in Brandon. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
