Men's basketball team upsets #2 Golden Bears

Box Score BRANDON – The Brandon Bobcats picked up a huge 71-70 upset win over the #2 Alberta Golden Bears Saturday night, earning their first win of the season and giving the Bears their first loss.

The two teams exchanged leads through-out before Alberta jumped to a five-point late in the fourth at 70-65. That's when Brandon's  Emerick Ravier took over. Ravier was sent to the line and hit both attempts, then hit a lay-up with under 30 seconds to go, bringing Brandon within one.

Alberta's Sahr Saffa then went to the line where he missed both free-throws, giving Brandon a window of opportunity.  With one possession and the game on the line, Ravier drove and hit a turn-around jumper that gave Brandon the lead with 5.7 seconds left.

A last second jump-shot by Alberta's Jordan Baker bounced off the rim four times before rolling out, giving Brandon their first win of the season.

Brandon's Kenonte Ramsey led all scorers, finishing with 22 points, including seven three pointers. Ravier added 19 points for Brandon while Mikee Dosado put up 12 points.

Jordan Baker finished with a double-double for the Bears, finishing with 21 points and 12 rebounds to go along with six assists.

Alberta's record now sits at 5-1, while Brandon improves to 1-5. Up next for Brandon is a road trip to UNBC and Mount Royal while Alberta will welcome Trinity Western and Fraser Valley.
