Box Score BRANDON - A last-second buzzer-beater attempt by
Emerick Ravier bounced off the front of the rim as time expired, ending the Brandon Bobcats hopes of picking up their first win of the season Saturday night, as the UBC Thunderbirds fought to a 76-74 win.
UBC carried a 16-point lead into the fourth quarter, but a strong final frame brought the Bobcats back to tie it at 74-74.
Tonner Jackson answered right back for the 'Birds, hitting a jump shot to give UBC a two-point lead that proved to be enough.
Five T-Birds finished in double-digit scoring, led by Jordan Jensen-Whyte's team-high 18 points. David Wagner contributed 17 points, while Jackson, Tommy Nixon, and Andrew McGuinness all put up 11 points. Nixon also finished with a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Bobcats got a double-double from
Jordan Reaves (13 points, 10 rebounds), while
Emerick Ravier put up a game-high 19 points.
Kenonte Ramsey notched 16 points while
Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak added 14.
Up next for UBC is the T-Birds home-opener against Trinity Western, while the Bobcats will travel to Saskatoon to take on the Saskatchewan Huskies.
