Men's volleyball team complete sweep of Heat; determine first round playoff series

Box Score KELOWNA - The Bobcats men's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 28-26, 25-20) win over the hosy UBC Okanagan Heat Saturday night, completing the weekend series sweep and setting up the Bobcats first round playoff match up.

With the win, the Bobcats finish the regular season at 13-9, good for sixth in the Canada West standings, meaning they will travel to Saskatoon to play the U of S Huskies next weekend in quarter final action.

This will be the first time the two teams have met in the playoffs.

On Saturday the Bobcats were led by Roy Ching's 19 kills. Ching has made quite a name in his first season in the conference and will get serious consideration for conference rookie of the year.

Middle Brendan White had a solid performance as well, finishing the contest with 11 kills on 17 swings (.529 hitting percentage) to go along with an astounding eight blocks.

Dan Boutwell picked up 14 kills on 23 swings (.522 hitting percentage) while in his final regular season game Garrett Popplestone shone recording 45 assists, five kills and nine digs.

In just his second match starting at libero, rookie Jeremy Davies was effective in passing the ball, finishing the contest with 18 digs.

The Heat were led by Riley McFarland, who put up 26 kills in what would be his final CIS match.
