Box Score BRANDON – Entering this weekend's action ranked #1 in the country, the UBC Thunderbirds lived up to their ranking, picking up a straight-sets win 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-21) over the host Brandon Bobcats Friday night.
Playing in her first match in her hometown since graduating from high school, third-year left-side Lisa Barclay was impressive, finishing the contest with 17 kills on 24 swings, good for a .542 hitting percentage. Barclay also finished one dig shy of a double-double, picking up nine.
The Bobcats were led by Tori Dakin's eight kills and five digs, while middles
Alexis Loewen and
Meaghan Robertson hit the ball at an efficient rate, finishing with .538 and .545 hitting percentages respectively.
The win improves UBC's record to 18-1, while the Bobcats fall to 8-11.
The two teams will meet again Saturday night in the second-half of the weekend series. First serve is scheduled for 5:00 pm in Brandon University's Healthy Living Centre.
