LAVAL, QC - The Bobcats men's volleyball team started the quest for a CIS national championship in style, as the 'Cats took care of the Montreal Carabins 3-1 (23-25, 25-18,  25-19, 25-20) Friday night, earning a spot in the national semi-final.

The Bobcats struggled to score in the first set, as the pressure of playing in front of a largely-pro Montreal crowd on the nation's biggest stage played a factor. The Carabins narrowly edged the Bobcats in the first, but Brandon didn't look back from there.

The Bobcats attack efficiency improved in all four sets, culminating in a .441 team attack percentage in the fourth set.

Brandon was led by Sam Tuivai's 28 kills and 11 digs. The all-Canadian proved why he was deserving of the honour, playing masterfully late in the game.

Roy Ching also finished with a double-double, notching 12 kills on 10 digs, while Garrett Popplestone put up 40 assists and Brendan White had seven blocks.

The win guarantees the Bobcats a spot in Saturday's semi-final against the host Universite Laval Rouge et Or. First serve in that match is scheduled for 8:00 pm ET (7:00 pm CT).
