Box Score REGINA, Sask. - The two teams were tied at halftime, but Brandon pulled away in the second half for an 81-67 victory over the Regina Cougars on Friday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport on the U of R campus.
Kenonte Ramsey piled up 25 points for Brandon, which improves to 6-15 with the victory.
Though Brandon led for most of the first half, the two teams were never separated by more than six points for the first 20 minutes. Jeremy Zver connected on a three-point play that brought the Cougars level at 36-36 heading into halftime, but Brandon took control shortly after the break.
Another Zver jumper from short range gave the Cougars a two-point lead two minutes into the third, but Brandon went on a 14-2 run including back-to-back triples by Ramsey to open up the first double-digit lead of the game.
The Cougars cut the lead down to six on two occasions, including four minutes into the fourth quarter, but a 19-6 run down the stretch for Brandon put the game away for the visitors.
Emerick Ravier added 19 points and eight rebounds for Brandon, while
Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak had 12 points and nine boards.
Isaiah James led all players with 10 rebounds.
Brandon Tull had a team-leading 16 points for the Cougars (4-17), while Travis Sylvestre added 13 points and Zver scored 12. Brendan Hebert dished out 10 assists and pulled down eight rebounds.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday night (7:00) at the CKHS.
