Bobcats fall in first pre-season contest

Box Score The Lakehead Thunderwolver men's basketball team started off the pre-season with an 88-81 win over the Brandon Bobcats on Friday evening.

The 'Wolves were able to triumph thanks to some tough interior game and defense in the face of a very hot shooting Bobcat squad. The Bobcats would streak out in the first quarter, led by Kenonte Ramsey, who was 2-2 from the 3-point line in the 1st quarter, and 5-5 at the break with 20 points. He would finish with 25 pts on 10-of-14 shooting with 4 assists before fouling out in the final minute of play.

While Lakehead was saved with their rebounding and interior size, they were hindered by their performance at the charity stripe, where they went 17-for-34 as a team. Brandon was no better, making 4 of 12 attempts.

Alex Robichaud, a 3rd year guard who calls Thunder Bay home was the answer on D for the T-Wolves on Friday. 'Robo' went 6-11 from the field for 17 points, 7 assists , grabbed 6 rebounds and took 3 charges, and slowed down Kenonte Ramsey in the second half.

The T-Wolves had 4 other players score in double figures, including Dwayne Harvey (15), Ashaunti Hogan and Anthony McIntosh (13 each), and rookie Addy Ogunye (10).

"I thought our guys competed pretty hard today," said coach Manny Furtado. "We gave up some tough buckets, but their scorers were on fire and got some good looks. We gotta clean that up tomorrow. I thought we did a good job rebounding the ball, we just gotta get re-focussed for the next game."
