Bobcats Dominate Cougars on the Road with Two Shutout Victories
The Brandon University Bobcats continued their stellar season last night, securing two impressive shutout victories against the Assiniboine College Cougars on Wednesday, September 17th. Playing at the Cougars' new field under the lights, both the women's and men's teams delivered dominant performances.
The women's team put on an offensive masterclass, defeating the Cougars with a decisive 10-0 victory. Midfielder Brogan Henry was the star of the show, scoring an incredible four goals. She was joined on the scoresheet by multiple teammates, including Jorja Hoad with two goals, and Deborah Meron, Kaylee Dittmer, and Sofia Kalyar each adding one. Newcomer Tyanne Martinez-Okemow also scored her first MCAC goal during the game. Goaltender Casey Lamoureux was solid in net, earning the shutout and extending the Bobcats' undefeated streak. The women's team now stands at a commanding 4-0 on the season.
The men's team followed with a physical and hard-fought battle that saw them emerge victorious with a 4-0 shutout. Reigning MCAC Male Athlete of the Week Camilo Rodriguez continued his scoring dominance, netting a hat trick with three goals, while Bryan Zepeda contributed the fourth goal to seal the win. Despite the Cougars having more shots on goal, Bobcats goaltender Matheus Souza was a wall, turning away every shot to earn the shutout. The win brings the men's team's record to 3-1 on the year.
Both Bobcat teams will look to carry this momentum forward as they host CMU to HLC field this Sunday afternoon. Womens kick off us 1pm, Mens set for 3:15pm. $5 admission for Adults, Current Students and kids U-16 are FREE!
