Strong first half isn't enough for men's basketball team

Box Score
BRANDON - The Brandon Bobcats and Winnipeg Wesmen continued their provincial rivalry Saturday night in Brandon. The two teams exchanged blows all night, but the Wesmen proved to be too much in the fourth quarter outscoring the Bobcats 20-7 in the final frame, en route to a 72-60 win.
The Bobcats had a strong first half, highlighted by Turell Scott's last second dunk to the end first half. Scott was charged with a technical foul immediately following the play, which sent Winnipeg's Travis Krahn to the line. Krahn subsequently made both free-throws, giving the Wesmen a 35-34 lead at half-time. The Bobcats went ice cold in the fourth quarter, putting up just seven points.
Fourth-year forward Jordan Reaves had a monster game for the Bobcats, putting up 13 points and pulling down 21 rebounds, a school record since Brandon joined the Canada West conference. Second-year forward Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak had a double-double as well, finishing with a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds.
All five Wesmen starters finished in double-digit scoring, led by Steven Wesley's team-high 17 points. Benny Iko also finished with a double-double (13 points, 11 rebounds).
The win improves Winnipeg's record to 4-2, while Brandon falls to 1-5.
Up next for the Bobcats is a swing trip to B.C. to play UBC-Okanagan Friday and Thompson Rivers Saturday. The Wesmen will travel to the west coast to play Trinity Western and Fraser Valley.
