Box Score BRANDON, MB – A last second turnover cost the Brandon Bobcats a shot to tie the game against Mount Royal, as the Cougars won 76-74 Friday night in Brandon.
Awet Abraha hit a lay-up with just over three seconds left, to give the Cougars a 76-74 lead. The Bobcats final possession didn't work out according to plan, as Deng Awak forced a steal as the final seconds ticked off the clock.
Abraha led the Cougars with a team-high 21 points, while Nick Loewen finished the contest with a double-double (15 points, 15 rebounds) while Deng Awak finished one rebound shy of a double-double (11 points, 9 rebounds).
Ilarion Bonhomme recorded a game-high 23 points, while picking up nine assists and seven rebounds.
Jordan Reaves finished with 15 points,
Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak put up 14 points, and
Michael Smith added 13 points.
Mount Royal will head to Regina to play the Cougars Saturday, while the Bobcats will welcome the UNBC Timberwolves to BU's Healthy Living Centre.
