Box Score BRANDON, Man. – Don Dayrit's three-point dagger powered the Winnipeg Wesmen to an 80-72 road win over the Bobcats in Monday night Canada West men's basketball action.

Dayrit drained the contested three and hit the ensuing free throw to put the Wesmen in the driver's seat at 69-67 with 4:40 left in the fourth quarter.

The Wesmen held the 'Cats to just 24 second-half points en route to sweeping the home-and-home series to go into the holiday break.

"It is pretty big, because we had been on a losing streak," said Dayrit on the back-to-back wins.

The Bobcats led 48-37 at halftime after outscoring the Wesmen 21-11 in the second quarter.

Brandon's offence went cold to start the third, but captain
Jaleel Webb gave the 'Cats a shot in the arm with a corner three to put BU ahead 60-48 with a minute and a half to go.

Winnipeg overcame the double-digit deficit with a 9-2 run to start the fourth quarter to grab a 63-62 lead.

Haashim Wallace re-stored Brandon's lead at 67-63 with a three-pointer of his own, but the Wesmen caught fire from beyond the arc down the stretch.

"Everyone was involved," added Dayrit. "Our bench was involved, the players on the floor were involved. We just had big time energy."

The Wesmen improved to 4-6, while the Bobcats slipped to 1-9 to finish the first-half of the conference schedule.

Brandon opens the second-half on January 10-11 with a road trip to Regina to take on the Cougars while Winnipeg welcomes the MacEwan Griffins to start 2020.

"We had some positives and some negatives in our game," said first-year Bobcat forward
Anthony Tsegakele. "We have to try and build off the positive stuff and try to be ready for the start of 2020 and hopefully make a playoff push."

"I think it is our defensive consistency and the way we finish off games."
