Bobcats Open Season with a Bang at Homecoming
The Brandon University Bobcats kicked off their home season in style this afternoon, celebrating their annual homecoming festivities with a day of exciting soccer action, community spirit and a few hot dogs flying through the air. A few hundred fans filled the HLC field, enjoying free admission and a barbecue with a portion of the proceeds supporting the Terry Fox Run.
The Women's team set the tone early, continuing their strong start to the season. They faced a tough challenge from the Providence Pilots but ultimately secured a convincing 4-2 victory. The Bobcats' offense was on fire, with goals coming from Keashae Masters, Kenadie Jensen, Jorja Hoad, and Laure Dizengremel. With the win, the defending MCAC champion women's team remains undefeated, improving their record to 2-0 on the young season.
The Men's team followed with an electrifying performance of their own. Led by a dominant showing from Camilo Rodriguez, who was named player of the game, the Bobcats' offense found its rhythm. Rodriguez was unstoppable, scoring an incredible four goals to power his team to victory. The win brings the men's record to an even 1-1, building momentum for the rest of their season.
The soccer action isn't over yet. The Bobcats are back on the field tomorrow, Sunday, September 14th, as part of the ongoing homecoming celebrations. They'll host the St Boniface Rouges, with the women's game kicking off at 1:00 PM and the men's game following at 3:15 PM. Just like today, admission will be free for all fans.
