Bobcats Complete Homecoming Sweep with Four Straight Wins
The Brandon University Bobcats wrapped up a thrilling homecoming weekend with a perfect Sunday, sweeping all four games at HLC field played this weekend. The back-to-back victories over the St. Boniface Les Rouges on Sunday, capped off a dominant two-day performance for both the men's and women's teams.
The women's team set the tone with a decisive 3-0 victory, continuing their incredible start to the season. The offense was sparked by Kenadie Janzen, who netted two goals, while Jorja Hoad scored the other. On defense, the Bobcats were a force, holding their opponents scoreless. The player of the game for the Bobcats was Tarin Ballan, whose stellar play was key to the shutout. With the victory, the women's team remains undefeated, improving their record to 3-0.
In a physical and fiercely contested match, the men's team battled to a hard-fought 2-0 win. The game was high intensity with 7 Yellows and 3 Red cards given. The entire second half was 9 v 8 for the Brandon Bobcats. Camila Rodriguez continued his scoring tear from Saturday, netting one goal, and Carter Wiebe added the second to secure the victory. Rookie Zach Lamb was named the player of the game for the Bobcats, showcasing his talent in the high-stakes affair. The win moves the men's team to 2-1 on the season.
The Bobcats' home stand may be over, but their season continues with a road trip that keeps them right here in Brandon. They will travel to the new Cougar Field at Maple Leaf Sports Complex to take on the Assiniboine Cougars on Wednesday night.
