Brandon University Dick and Verda McDonald Sports Wall of Fame
David Dominique transferred to Brandon University to play out his final three years of eligibility, and he did so in spectacular style.
Â
Dominique was one of six players that helped the Bobcats men’s basketball team capture three national championships in three consecutive years in the 1980’s.
Â
Red-shirting his first season in Brandon in 1986-87, Dominique was a tireless worker who pushed teammates in practice. The 6-foot-7 product of New Iberia, La. was a dominating swingman who could play guard and forward thanks to his size, skill, and overall ability to fill the basket.
Â
He took over starting point guard duties in 1987, and quarterbacked an offense that stormed to the school’s second consecutive national title in the spring of 1988. He would add one more title in 1989, closing out a successful career that included a GPAC second-team all-star selection following his final season.
