Brandon University Dick and Verda McDonald Sports Wall of Fame
The 1973-74 Bobcats men's hockey team made history becoming the first-ever BU team to win the Great Plains Athletics Conference and the following season the 1974-75 Bobcats repeated as champions.

Coach Bob Kabel guided Brandon to a first-place finish in the regular season standings with a record of 11-and-7 in 1973-74.

Perry Robinson and Larry Budzinski were named first-team conference all-stars while Doug Gillies was a second-team all-star.

Dan Cassils was the hero for the Bobcats as they edged the Manitoba Bisons to capture the league crown. Cassils scored a breakaway goal with 16 seconds remaining to lift BU past the Bisons 7-6.

Brandon met the Calgary Dinos in the Western Canadian final at the Keystone Centre with the winner advancing to the national semifinals. High-scoring centre Perry Robinson had the game tying marker late in the third period, before BU dropped the must-win playoff game in double overtime.

The Bobcats returned a strong nucleus of players to defend their title, but had a new face behind the bench in Trevor Fahey in 1974-75.

The defending champions posted a first-place record of 17-and-5 and finished the regular season ranked eighth in the country.

Perry Robinson recorded a hat-trick as BU dominated the Bisons 8-2 to clinch back-to-back league tiles.

Robinson and Budzinski were joined by John Goran and Brian Boyle as first-team all-stars while Grant Thomson was a second-team all-star.

The Bobcats' playoff run came to an end after dropping their series against the Alberta Golden Bears in the Western Canadian Final.
