Brandon University Dick and Verda McDonald Sports Wall of Fame
‘Doc’ Hannah was an institution within an institution. For 33 years Doc was a coach, a manager, a trainer and the inspiration behind the Bobcat and College Cap hockey programs.
He was faculty advisor to the Athletic Board for 20 years. He was head of the Zoology department and was granted Professor Emeritus status by Brandon University senate in 1981.
Hockey and sports in general were life-long loves for Hannah. To the hundreds of players who competed for the Bobcats and the College Caps, Doc Hannah stood for everything that varsity athletics and academics embodied. Hannah is considered a legend by all who knew him.
To show their love and respect for Hannah, the Bobcat hockey players purchased a trophy in his honour in the mid 1970’s. The award was presented annually to the player that was chosen as the inspirational leader to the team.
